Contrarily, Fc receptors are essential components of the human immune system and are distinguished by their special capacity to attach to the Fc region of immunoglobulins. The sole receptor in mammals that is unique to IgM is FcμR, often referred to as Toso or Faim3. It is mostly present on the surface of B cells and other immune cells. Patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia exhibit high expression of FcμR on the surface of B cells, indicating that this receptor plays a significant role in antigen presentation, B-cell development, immune system homeostatic regulation, and the disease process.
