Pctfiler is looking for a dynamic hands-on application development and support manager. The role involves managing a team of 4 staff and taking responsibility for a variety of web development projects and day-to-day It support functions. The successful candidate will have 3 years experience as an application development and support manager. A background in three-tiered web-based application development preferably with a strong understanding of relational databases and web applications (ideally J2EE A strong understanding of the entire Sdlc preferably with demonstrated experience in structured methodologies such as Prince2 Pmbok agile methods etc. Experience of internal corporate applications such as Crm workflow accounting and Bi systems. Strong technical architecture experience and an understanding of good user interface design. A keen interest in leading-edge approaches to web application architecture particularly in the areas of software-as-a-service and Soa. Strong understanding of test management and system release procedures. An ability to muck in with occasional technical tasks (perhaps requiring Sql or Html skills) and an ability to manipulate data (e.g. using Ms Access or advanced Excel functions) with strong attention to detail. An ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical staff and to provide an effective bridge between the two. An ability to juggle many interdependent projects simultaneously and maintain a clear schedule of project delivery. Ability to build an internal It team effectively and motivate the team to produce their best results. Ability to negotiate great partnerships with strategic outsourced vendors and to extract the maximum value from those relationships. The role requires flexibility around working hours to accommodate the necessary close working relationship with staff in London and New York. Evening and early morning phone conferences will be required to provide the required level of responsiveness to the business users and management.
