Description
Gumbo is a hearty, savoury stew made with a range of meats with the distinctive tastes and textures of okra (bittersweet with a slimy texture) and/or sassafras leaves (which have a root beer flavour). Any given gumbo's specific flavour will depend on the ingredients it contains. Boneless, skinless chicken breast and Andouille sausage are another common combination.
