The American word Counsellor is a term that means you will be brother sister friend supervisor all rolled into one to the children attending summer camp You will act as a role model to these children and will be with them everyday throughout the nine weeks so you will need lots of energy and be open to new ideas. General Counsellors do not specialise in any particular area and are primarily responsible for the overall activity programme and care of a small group of children. You are therefore required to have extensive childcare experience. Your role will be to accompany groups of boys and girls from activity to activity but be prepared to participate If the children see you taking part in the pottery lesson or see you learning how to negotiate a high ropes course then they will want to participate too.
